Taribo West advocates for grassroot development

Date:

Former Nigeria international Taribo West has stated that it is a pity the country lacked football administrators who are dedicated to tap into the vision of football grassroots development.

The former Inter Milan and AC Milan defender declared that for the country to quickly get it right, there is a need to go back to the basics just like other climes of the country’s football to be great again.

“Football development is one that you needs reservoir to make progress. We need to have a grassroots driven program in Nigeria,” the ex AJ Auxerre star told Footballlive.ng.

“When the grassroot is functioning and well managed there won’t be need to worry about what the future has to offer.”

“Nigeria need administrators who are dedicated to tap into the vision of grassroots development in order to catch them young and also introduce young footballers to the technicalities of the game on time.

“If we are to get it right, there is need to go back to the basics and catch them young,” the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist concluded.
