Omeruo Tops Nigerian Players’ Stats Ranking

Date:

CD Leganes of Spain defender, Kenneth Omeruo is top of the rankling of Nigerian players on statistics of matches played up till December 2018.

Footballlive.ng gathered that Omeruo leads the latest log, followed by the Italy-based duo of William Troost-Ekong of Udinese and Ola Aina of AS Torino.

Ironically, Nigeria’s top three players in the current data collations are defenders, while the next in line, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi of Leicester City and Alex Iwobi of Arsenal, both in England, are midfielders.

No striker is listed in the top five, as Super Eagles’ top scorer, Odion Jude Ighalo is not ranked among Europe’s top players, considering he plays for Changchun Yatai of China, while all other Nigerian players up front are just picking up top form at the start of 2019.

The odds might tilt in favour of Henry Onyekuru at Galatasaray of Turkey, Samuel Kalu at Girondion-Bordeaux of France and Samuel Chukwueze at Villarreal of Spain in the coming weeks.

For now, though, Omeruo, with 75.3% is the highest ranked Nigerian player, but a lowly 265th overall in Europe and 69th in Spain.

Troost-Ekong is Nigeria’s second best with 72.8% and 374th overall, Aina is third and 450th with 71.3%, while joint-fourth and 473rd in Europe are Ndidi and Iwobi (both with 70.8%).
