Enyimba Want To Win FAC Confederation Cup – Afelokhai

Date:

Enyimba of Aba goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai is basking in the delight over his heroics against Djoliba of Mali last night, but said he will not relax until the club win the CAF Confederations Cup.

After being named Man of the Match in a 1-0 win in Bamako, Afelokhai said he was happy with the feat and that The Peoples Elephant carried the day with a last-minute penalty goal.

Two-time winners of the more prestigious CAF Champions League, Enyimba are now second in Group C with nine points from five matches.

They will now host group leaders CARA Brazzaville of Congo on August 28 in a final group game, and the former Kano Pillars shot stopper said they will not relax until they carry the cup.

The shot-stopper, who dedicated his Man of the Match award to Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, who had previously rewarded him with a special gift of $1,000, also thanked Enyimba’s fans for standing by the club all this while.

Afelokhai said: “Our dream is to win the CAF Confederation Cup. We now need to win our next game to qualify for the quarterfinals.

“It was not an easy game, we gave our best and that did not go to waste. We worked as one big family and we thank God for everything.

“This game meant a lot not just to Enyimba, but to the whole of Nigeria. We thank the fans for their support and prayers also.”
