CAF Champions League: Lobi needs 2- nil scoreline to progress to the group stage.


Lobi Stars faces a challenging task to qualify for the next group stage of the 2019 CAF Champions League after they fell flat 3-1 in the first leg of the game against Gor Mahia of Kenya today.

The Nigerian representatives will now need at least a scoreline of 2-0 in the return leg next weekend to progress in the CAF Champions League competition .

Though this is achievable, the head coach , coach Solomon Ogbeide admitted his boys were “wasteful” in the previous round against UMS de Loum of Cameroon.

The Kenyans set an inferno against Lobi Stars as Rwanda international Jacques Tuyisenge opened scoring after just seven minutes.

Sammy Onyango of Kenya doubled Gor Mahia’s lead after a defensive error as Lobi Stars goalkeeper Ospino Egbe pulled off several stunts that saved the bride of Benue from been bashed beyond measure .

New acquisition Samuel Mathias  pulled a goal back for Lobi Stars only for Gor Mahia to score a third goal moments later.

There were no goals in the second half as Lobi Stars chased to further reduce the 2 goals deficit.
