After a rocky start to their U20 Africa Cup of Nations, providence breathe hope into Nigeria’s campaign following the narrow 1-0 victory over host Nation, Egypt, and former youth International Yakubu Alfa believes the team will improve as the tournament progresses.

In a chat with FL, Alfa even tipped the team Coached by Ladan Bosso to go as far as the final and win the championship.

Though the team hasn’t played convincingly, Yakubu Alfa identified certain qualities as a collective and individually that could serve the team greatly in the latter stages of the AFCON tournament.

“Most teams get better as they progress, and this is a team of young technical players,” Alfa assured.

“The preparation was okay for them, but I don’t know why they lost to Senegal. The first round, however I saw the determination of the players and I know for sure they are going to progress to the quarter finals, semi finals and probably be the team that will lift the trophy.”

“They have all support and they have the calibre of players to go to the next level. The Coach also has a lot of experience at that level.”

Meanwhile, ahead of their final group game, the Flying Eagles could advance to the last eight with a win or a draw, and it’s not a task that’ll be to complex for Bosso, Alfa has suggested.

” I’m certain the team will play differently against Mozambique; the Coach will come out with a very good Strategy.”
