An underwhelming performance for Napoli in the Serie A, Wednesday night, was highlighted by their front man, Victor Osimhen’s low output for 90 minutes against Lecce at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Osimhen got off only three shots against Lecce and the Forward managed only 22 touches on the ball – the least by any Napoli starter – but was dispossessed of it 7 times.
It was an uncharacteristic sub-par show for the Target man and the entire team as they have now dropped points in consecutive games already this season.
Despite going ahead against Lecce in the first half through Eljif Elmas in the 27th minute, Napoli never looked convincing and were pegged back.
Luciano Spalletti’s side had conceded an earlier penalty – two minutes before goal – but Lorenzo Colombo failed to convert.
However, four minutes after going behind, Colombo redeemed himself, grabbing his side’s equalizer and closed the half with both teams leveled.
There was no goal action in the second half and Lecce walked away with an important result on the night, much to the displeasure of Napoli’s Manager.
Spalletti now finds his team two points behind the Serie A leader, AS Roma, after four round of matches.
They face a tricky test this weekend away against SS Lazio in Rome.
Ini-Abasi Umotong and her Brighton side have been drawn against Manchester United in the English Women's Cup quarter-final on January 16.
