Nigeria WNT, the Super Falcons, have been knocked out of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup after a penalty shoot defeat to England.

Super Falcons forced the European Champions to a goalless draw after 120 minutes, before losing 4-2 on penalties in Brisbane.

Veteran forward, Desire Oparanozie and full-back Mitchell Alozie missed their kicks, while Rasheedat Ajibade and Christy Uchebe did enough to beat England goalkeeper, Mary Earps.

Their effort was not enough as England, who played the last part of regulation with 10 players, advanced in the shoot-out despite missing their first kick.

It was a heartbreaking end for the 11-time African Champions, while England march on to face either Jamaica or Colombia in the quarter-finals in Sydney on Saturday.
