Coach Aliyu Zubair was proud of his Wikki Tourists side for ‘not settling for a draw’ as they came away beating Rivers United 2-1 in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 12, reports Footballlive.ng.
The Bauchi based side stunned the Pride of Rivers in a thrilling match at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Saidu Abdullahi and Hassan Musa gave all three points to the Giant Elephants, and the Coach has claimed that he was delighted with his team for not being happy with a point.
“Rivers United tightened at the back and we knew we were going to suffer,” he told Footballlive.ng
“But we never settled for a draw because that is the sort of side we are. After going two goals up away from home, the onus fell on us to stabilize and win.
“We wanted to win before the game, and even when it was 2-1 we wanted to get the three points.
“We’re always going to go through ups and downs, but if we keep playing like this, there’ll be more ups.”
Wikki Tourists climbed to fifth on the Group A ladder with 15 points from 11 matches.
