Wikki Tourists FC has requested that the Interim Management Committee (IMC) examines the fine imposed on the team for its matchup with Bayelsa United FC in the NPFL.

Following a comprehensive examination of the match, the IMC imposed a 3-point deduction.

The sanction also included a fine of ₦2.5 million and the closure of the stadium to all NPFL matches on Wikki Tourists.

In an interview on Saturday in Bauchi, Club Chairman, Mr Balarabe Douglas passionately appealed for support.

“The management provided adequate security for the match in the stadium with over 40 police personnel, Man O’War, and WAI brigade physically on ground.

“There wasn’t any object throwing or any anything of such nature. We noticed that, some angry fans started throwing sachets and plastic bottles of water at Wikki players to show their displeasure over their poor performance and the game was abruptly stopped.”

“Similarly, none of the match officials visiting the team and players were targeted or assaulted during the match,” he said.

“The aggrieved players returned for the continuation of the match after a polite explanation by the officials on the reason for cancellation.

“With these explanations, the IMC should reason and review the sanctions because the decision reached is not only harsh but worrisome,” he explained.
