Josh Maja’s last minute decision to snub a return to England in the Summer transfer window is paying off for the Forward and now he is aiming even higher with Bordeaux.

Maja was reportedly on the verge of a switching from the Ligue 2 side, but opted to stay out among other reasons for the football and financial benefits of staying put.

Several months since that stunning act, the Nigerian has endeared himself to the fans and has let his actions on the pitch do most of the talking.

He was recently voted the Ligue 2 Player of the month for October and for a sterling performance that is inspiring Bordeaux’s promotion push.

In the month under review, he scored three goals in four games, to beat all comers to the award.

Speaking in his gratitude for the recognition and his target for the rest of the season, the 23 year-old said it’s about ending the season in a big way.

“First of all, thank you all for your support, thank you to the coaches, thank you all for the involvement you put in training and during matches,” he told the club’s official website.

“We still have work. It’s only a small part of the job, but we know what we want at the end of the season. So, thank you very much for this trophy.”

So far in the Ligue 2 campaign, Maja has been involved in 10 goals (7 goals and 3 assists) in 15 appearances for Les Girondins.
