WE WONT ALTER SUPER 8 FIXTURES SCHEDULE – CHIDI OFOR

Date:

Independent Chairman of Bet9ja Nigeria National league of the ongoing  Super Eight playoff in Aba have ruled out any possibility of adjusting the tournament fixtures for the match day three games.

A lot of football fans have been clamouring for the altering of the games fixtures in each group to be decided simultaneously to avoid a possible compromise.
The clubs reckon that the extension of stadia to other game will ensure fairness and level playing ground for all the teams.
They cited cases where FIFA and CAF decide their last group games simultaneously during competitions and demanded the NNL Super Eight organisers to follow suit.
But Chidi Okenwa Offor chairman of the second tier league board disregarded the brilliant idea
Feelers from a crucial technical meeting held on Tuesday, NNL supremo said it was not possible and fair to shift the goalpost in the middle of a match.
“Playing the last group matches simultaneously was not captured in the competition’s rules”, the NNL boss disclosed.
“The draws were held before the games started and there was no voice of opposition or reminder to this from the clubs.
“So changing the rules at this stage would amount to changing the goalposts when the game was already underway”, the NFF board member said.
