Plateau United captain, Elisha Golbe says the team will miss their Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, who has now reportedly made a switch to Rangers.

Golbe revealed that the coach was really influential in the locker room; as he listened to them and helped them with issues larger than football during his stay at the club.

Meanwhile, Elisha Golbe will take over from Ilechukwu, for his first managerial job believes the club will back him.

“We as a team are definitely going to miss him because he is a coach that listens to his players.

“He’s open-minded, friendly and free with the players and he is approachable as players often go to him when they have problems away from the pitch and even bigger than football. So I think a lot of the players are unhappy that he is leaving,” Golbe told FL.

“The team is still on break and the players have put a call through to me that this is what they heard and they also spoke with him. We are definitely going to miss him.

“We will definitely keep pushing, that is football, as they say, ‘soldier go, soldier come, barrack still remain’ We will keep pushing, and whoever comes, we will give him the maximum co-operation and support so that we can get to the heights we desire.”

Fidelis Ilechukwu’s highlight at the club was leading the team to a continental spot after finishing second in the 2021/2022 NPL season.
