Super Eagles Media Officer Toyin Ibitoye says the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) is good for the game of soccer, adding that it is helping in reducing wrong calls.

Ibitoye said the VAR is assisting the referees, he also said the need for the system was long overdue, footballlive.ng gathered.

As regards the equalizing goal scored by South Africa, Ibitoye Said,” On the bench, we were anxious, we were hoping and praying the VAR will not award the goal and the South Africans wanted the goal.

“When the goal was given, we were not happy, but that’s Football for you.”

He continued by saying “For me, I think there is no argument, it is good for the game, even though it did not favour us today, but it may favour us at a crucial stage.”

The Super Eagles media officer also reflected on yesterday’s game and said the team spirit and never say die attitude of the Nigerian players paid off at the end.
