Plateau United captain Elisha Golbe has opened up on the morale in the team after the 5-0 trouncing of El Kanemi Warriors in Midweek.

In a chat with FL Golbe revealed that the result was perfect after drawing away to Remo stars, “now the confidence is growing,” he muted.

He also praised the coach, Fidelis Ikechukwu, whom he says is driving the team’s morale up and now they’re confident of catching up with the top sides in the group, Bendel Insurance and Enyimba.

“You know we played a 1-1 draw at Remo last week, and the morale of the boys is very high. You know when you have that winning mentality in you, whoever you are going to play; home or away, there’s a strong mentality.

“This had to do with the management of the team; the general manager knows how to psyche the players; with support, match bonuses, travelling allowances, making sure we arrive match venues on time, so that we will have a very good rest. Coupled with the distance you know how Nigerian league is, these are some of the factors that are driving the team’s morale.”

“You know Bendel Insurance and Enyimba are ahead of us, but we are still pushing, the league is not over until it is over. So we are trying our best to make sure that we end up in the top three because that is our target.”

Ahead of their next clash away to struggling Gombe United, Elisha Golbe the team is showing the same qualities that led to their 2017 season triumph.

“No two match is the same, and you know in the game of football sometimes you have your tactics. I know Gombe United have lost a couple of games at home, but you can’t write them off.

“So it’s just for us to keep working hard and make sure we give them the maximum respect they deserve before the game and by the grace of God after 90 minutes everything will be done.”

“When you have a good team, the defenders, attackers and midfielders all score goals; you can’t rely on the attackers alone for goals. When the attackers have a bad day, then the defenders and midfielders will compliment.

“Everybody is pushing to score goals, even the team’s highest goal scorer is a defender, so everybody is still pushing, and I could remember in 2017 when we won the league me as a defender, I had seven goals, you know that what makes a good team is when everybody scores.”
