Super Eagles B goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai has rued Nigeria’s 2-1 defeat to Togo in the WAFU Cup of Nations match on Sunday.
Nigeria had lost 4-1 to the same opposition in a 2020 CHAN qualifier a week, but Sunday’s defeat for the Eagles was down ill-luck, Afelokhai told www.brila.net.
The goalkeeper described the defeat as “very painful” especially losing to the same opposition in consecutive games.
“It was a very bad day and I never expect such result to repeat itself again that’s football but whoever watch the game will see that we really had hard luck.
“We should have beaten them with nothing less than 5-2 but the game decided not to favour us again.
“And we pray that we get luck because this is what the Super Eagles team B is lacking. We hope to play better and have the luck to score. It’s a very painful thing that we lost again.”
