Victor Osimhen Omitted from Super Eagles squad for Mexico, Ecuador Friendlies

Victor Osimhen has been left out of Nigeria’s squad for the Friendly games against Mexico and Ecuador.

Osimhen who has earned caps for Nigeria and scored 10 goals since his debut in 2017 was omitted from the 30-man list of players invited by stand-in Coach Salisu Yusuf.
In a statement published by the NFF, Tuesday, the friendlies will serve as preparation for Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe, both coming up in June.
It is unclear if the decision to leave the Napoli striker out was a disciplinary measure after the 23 year-old’s public spat with former Nigeria striker and FA Technical Committee member Victor Ikpeba.
NFF sources disclosed that the Super Eagles Forward may have asked to be omitted from the USA trip.
No Official statement has been issued on the decision to leave out Osimhen as Salisu Yusuf isn’t scheduled to speak to the media on his position or his selection.
Nigeria play Mexico on May 28 at the AT&T Stadium and five days later the team takes on Ecuador at the Red Bull Arena.
