Victor Boniface scored a brace as Bayer Leverkusen tore apart Heidenheim to keep pace with Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga. The 4-1 trashing meant that Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich are tied on 13 points after five games at the top of the league.

The double strike follows Boniface’s goal in the 4-0 thrashing of Hacken in the UEFA Europa League, a ruthless scoring run that has only seen him notched 8 goals in 7 games for his new side.

He scored his first with a beautiful drive to the bottom corner after he was set through by Exequiel Palacios in the ninth minute, then scored a very calm penalty, sending Kevin Muller the wrong way before placing it through the middle.

The result means Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich are the only unbeaten teams in the Bundesliga after the first five games, with four wins and a 2-2 draw against each other.

Up next is a tricky trip to the Mewa Arena to take on Mainz, even though they lost to them in their last encounter.

Bayer Leverkusen will be favorites against this Mainz side that is low on confidence after just 1 point from 5 games, sitting at the bottom of the Bundesliga.
