Francis Uzoho was the Man of the Match despite Omonia Nicosia’s narrow 1-0 defeat against Manchester United in the Europa League match at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Francis Uzoho pulled off 11 saves against Manchester United and his performance drew praise from former Manchester United star, Owen Hargreaves, who believes that Uzoho earned himself a career-changing moment.

‘For him, that’s a huge moment. He’ll have moments that will change his career, that was one of such.’

– Owen Hargreaves

Although Paul Scholes believed Manchester United’s poor showing in front of the goal was down to finishing and not impeccable saves from Uzoho, he however, admitted that the Nigerian was good.

“He is good I, but don’t think he made incredible saves. Some of it was down to poor finishing. He saved everything he was supposed to save.”

– Paul Scholes

Uzoho, who also admitted to be a life long Manchester United fan won the man of the match award, in a chat after the game described it as “a dream come true”, to play inside Old Trafford.

‘I am not disappointed, because we had a good game, but I would have preferred to get a point. Yet I’m happy, it’s not an easy to play in a stadium like this and the atmosphere.

‘It’s a dream come true [to play at Old Trafford]. I have dreamt of playing here for a long time. So when I saw the draw, I wanted to play and I prayed to God to get an opportunity to play.’

On whether it was the best performance of his career, he responded, “Arguably. It is my best game yet, truly.’

“I am proud of my teammates most especially because it was not about one man, rather collectively we fought and played a good match.’
