Uzoho benched, Omonia suffers Europa League defeat again

Back to back losses for Francis Uzoho’s Omonia Nicosia in the UEFA Europa League leaves the Cypriot side bottom of the group E.

Uzoho got game time off the bench last week in the opening match of the competition, against Sheriff Tiraspol, but he conceded twice from Believe Atiemwen and Mouhamed Diop (Rasheed Akanbi got the first) in the 3-0 home defeat.

This Thursday, the Nigerian was named in the squad that travelled to Spain, but got only a bench role, when Neil Lennon’s side battled in hope of a redemption at the Reale Arena against Real Sociedad.

It was a tough night for the visitors, but their fortune remained same as they were beaten 2-1, with goals from Ander Guevara (30′) and Alexander Sorloth(80′).

Omonia sit bottom of the group standings, behind Real Sociedad who have six points, Manchester United and Sheriff Tiraspol.
