Unlucky Okereke! Cremonese still can’t Win

The first half of the Serie A clash between Bologna and Cremonese was pale, but after the interval, the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium suddenly produced fireworks following David Okereke’s penalty.

Cremonese are without a win so far this season in the Serie A, and headed into the contest on the back of their spirited performance and victory over Napoli in the Copa Italia.

Buoyed by their performance in that Cup win, La Cremo fought hard and won themselves a penalty which Okereke converted (50′) to fire Massimiliano Alvini’s side ahead.

It was the 25 year-old’s fourth goal of the league campaign and he edged compatriot, Cyriel Dessers (3 goals) as the club’s league top scorer – the latter was not listed for the game.

The visitors had very little grip on the game and faced a barrage of attack, one of which eventually resulted in an own goal, just five minutes after they had taking the lead.

It was 33 year-old former Tottenham and Napoli CB Vlad ChiricheČ™ who turned the ball into his own net to bring Bologna level.

Several goalscoring opportunities went begging and late on Cremonese thought they had won another penalty, but after the Referee consulted with VAR, the foul wasn’t given.

Following the outcome of the game, Cremonese increased their point tally for the season to 8points from 19 games and remain rooted bottom of the league.
