Samuel Chukwueze is a man in form and once again dazzled for Villarreal, despite his efforts his team fell to a discouraging 2-1 defeat to Real Valladolid at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

The Yellow Submarines were hoping to extend their winning streak, following the dramatic 3-2 triumph over Real Madrid last week, but it was not meant to be as Real Valladolid had other plans.

They took the lead early through Selim Amallah in the second minute and when Samuel Chukwueze thought he had gotten the equaliser it was chalked off for offside in the build up.

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts as El Yamiq hammered a powerful shot home to double Real Valladolid’s lead before half-time.

Chukwueze attempted to mount a response for Villarreal shortly after the restart as he glided past his marker before sending a curling shot towards the far post, but the ball hit the woodwork.

Minutes later, he had another opportunity when he was found in the box, but he painfully lost his footing after dribbling past the keeper, and he sent his final effort wide of the mark with the goal at his mercy.

Despite reducing the deficit through Etienne Capoue in the 76th minute, Valladolid held on to secure all three points.
