Umar Sadiq ends goal drought in Almeria win, Improves his season’s goal record

Umar Sadiq is three goal short of his total goal tally (20) from last season but the Nigerian is having arguably his best spell of goals contribution in his career.

So far this season Sadiq has played 8 games less than last term when he recorded 22 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions, but has done remarkably better as UD Almeria march onward for automatic promotion to LaLiga.
The 25 year-old has now scored 18 times with 8 assists from 35 appearances all campaign.
On Saturday the Forward could have easily scored a hat trick no thanks to the dubious goal committee, who ruled his first as an own goal and his second a penalty well saved by Amorebieta goalkeeper Unai Marino.
But, the Forward eventually got his name on the score sheet, scoring from a spectacular deft touch before rounding a defending and goalkeeper to finish easily.
His goal; the game’s third and Almeria’s, secured the Rojiblancos three points and for the Striker his 17th of the league season.
Andoni Lopez was credited with the Own goal (54′) before Srdan Babic extended the lead in the 75th minute.
Umar Sadiq was on a three-game goal drought, but stepped up to take the spot kick in the 82nd minute, but couldn’t beat the goalkeeper, who parried the ball against the cross bar.
The win moves Rubi’s men top of the standings, pending the outcome of Eibar’s game against third placed Valladolid , with three rounds of games left to play.
