Umar and his Almeria teammates keep La Liga promotion dream alive

Umar Sadiq didn’t look his usual sharp, decisive and clinical self in a crucial game, but Almeria weren’t going to let their leader down, and so a late winner against Sporting Gijon, Monday night, moved them up to second in the league, improving their chance of La Liga promotion.

Almeria snatched a stoppage time winner courtesy Curro Sanchez, creating an incredible scene inside the Estadio de Los Juegos Mediterráneos as the home fans celebrated wildly with the team.
Last season, despite an incredible 20 goals run for Sadiq through the campaign, it was heartbreak at the end as Almeria stumbled in the playoffs, hence this time around it appears they want to get the ticket through automatic qualification.
There are five round of matches left in Spain’s second tier of club football, with two points separating the top three; Eibar, Almeria and Valladolid.
So far this campaign, Umar Sadiq has scored a total of 16 goals with 7 assists, impressive for a player who had a slow start to the season.
But this ability to inspire himself is exactly the quality that has endeared the Player to his Coaches and appealed to scouts, which could see him be making a move to a bigger side and particularly if Almeria were to return to the top flight again after a six-year absence.
