Ugbade reminds Ghana, Nigeria leads in the Jollof Rivalry

Nduka Ugbade has described Nigeria’s win against Ghana in the U17 WAFU B Championship as another achievement in the rivalry between the two West African Nations.

Ugbade led the Golden Eaglets to a 4-2 opening Group A victory against the host at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.
During his post-match Media duties, the Nigerian Coach highlighted why the win had a ring to it.
“It was a wonderful match, a very interesting one,” Ugbade told reporters.
“We’ve always known something concerning Ghana, that for so many years now, there has always been a major rivalry with Nigeria and as you can confidently say, that Ghana will be going to the World Cup (Senior) at the expense of Nigeria.
“And then the U20 we managed to get victory, Today as well we knew it was going to be very difficult because we’re against a heavy and very strong opposition in Ghana.”
On his impression of the victory and how the teams performed, Ugbade said, “It has always been like this for so many years. My assessment of the game is that we tried our best.”
“The chances we created, we converted them and Ghana was some how unlucky as well, at the end of the day, it’s quite interesting, and we won, which is important that we got the three points.”
