Samuel Chukwueze has been in incredible form in the UEFA Europa Conference League and yet again on Thursday night, the winger showed why he could be crucial to Villarreal’s quest for another European silverware.

In 2021, the Nigeria hoisted the UEFA Europa League with the Yellow Submarines; their first major European title.

On Thursday night at the Estadio Ciutat de ValĆØncia, Chukwueze was named as a starter by new Villarreal boss, Quique SetiĆ©n in the UECL game against Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

The 23 year-old made his fifth appearance in the competition and registered another goal to bring his goal contribution tally to four (2 goals, 2 assists).

He leveled for Villarreal in the 57th minute after the visitors took a surprise lead, from the penalty spot, two minutes after restart.

The Yellow Submarines will eventually settle for a 2-2 result and a share of the spoils following goals from Arnaut Danjuma (70′) and an equalizer from the Israeli side.

Meanwhile, the game was SetiĆ©n’s debut game in charge of Villarreal following his appointment as Unai Emery’s replacement.

Villarreal are top of group C and remain unbeaten after five round of matches in the UECL. They also confirmed their place in the next round.
