The Super Falcons are a step closer to securing their place at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and forward Uchenna Kanu expects the team will approach the qualifiers with the same energy that they displayed at the Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria was eliminated in the round of 16, losing on penalties to England, but the team put up a good fight.

Speaking with FL, Kanu recalls the Super Falcons showed character and the energy will be essential for the Olympic qualifiers.

“So like, just basically me and my team just taking the morale from the World Cup into the tournament,” Uchenna Kanu said.

“I think we did really well, I think we had energy, we were better and we played for each other.

“So just for my teammates and myself to take that same energy to the Olympic tournament because regardless of whatever back and forth issues, I feel like we stayed true to what we wanted to achieve and we were able to push through every situation and every issue that arose when we were there.

“I think it’s just us staying focused and taking some energy to that tournament.”
