Coach Salisu Yusuf believes his team should have won their first leg, Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifier after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Tanzania at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Success Makanjuola got the goal for Nigeria via a spot kick, but Tanzania rallied back to get the draw and Yusuf is of the opinion that his boys could have done better.
“It was a hard game and we could have won the game but we didn’t take our two chances but we thank God for the game,” the Coach said.
However, Yusuf insists Nigeria will gun for victory and play better football when they host the return leg at the Lekan Salami Stadium next week.
“The plan is to win them and move to the next round by the grace of God. We will continue to work with the group, they are improving as a team and I believe that they will play better in Nigeria.”
