The Olympic Eagles took the lead in the 29th minute through Success Makanjuola’s penalty after Akanni Qudus was fouled in the box.
Salisu Yusuf’s men couldn’t build on the momentum as Tanzania replied with an equaliser in the 77th minute to set up an exciting encounter.
In a week’s time the Olympic Eagles will battle their Tanzanian counterpart in the second leg.
Winner of the tie advances to the next qualifying round of the 2023 Africa U23 Cup of Nations.
