Former Nigerian midfielder Friday Ekpo has lauded the progress made by the Flying Eagles to reach the quarter-finals of the U20 AFCON.

Nigeria is one step away from sealing World Cup qualification, but will have to battle the Young Cranes of Uganda to achieve the feat.

Uganda will be a tough nut to crack and have not tasted defeated in any of their encounters so far in the Championship.

Friday Ekpo told FL that although the team has been improving with each game, Thursday’s Opponent won’t be pushovers and Ladan Bosso has to get his tactics spot on.

“First and foremost, I want to say congratulations to the team for getting through the group stage and into the quarter final,” Ekpo praised the Flying Eagles.

“They have learnt their lesson right from day one; from their first game, second and third. They lost the first game to the Senegalese and they were able to pick up six good points to qualify, so they have been improving with every game.

“I tell you this time around we are going to get better than what they have done in the past. I just want the team to go through to the next round.”

“The team needs to stick to every game plan and to take the automatic World Cup qualification. They should concentrate on the match and make sure they play to instruction and play well to get the victory.”
