Nigeria U20 MNT coach, Ladan Bosso expressed his disappointment after the team’s semi-final defeat to Gambia in the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.

A lone goal from Gambian talisman, Adama Bojang seven minutes into the game was enough to send the nation of just over 2 million through to their first ever final in the competition.

The tale could have been different had Ahmed Abdullahi scored from the penalty spot in the 86th minute after winning the spot kick himself.

“We lost stupidly, we were naive from the start,” a disappointed Bosso said.

“We failed to take our chances and we also missed the penalty in the 86th minute.

“I am very frustrated because we had the team to go all the way; Football is cruel. We didn’t measure up. I congratulate The Gambia for winning,” he added.

Gambia and Senegal, both of whom have won all their matches and conceded no goals so far, will face off in the final of the competition.

Nigeria will play Tunisia in the the third place playoff on 10th of March at the Cairo International Stadium.
