Nigeria’s U17 WNT coach, Bankole Olowookere has blamed his defenders’ for the team’s defeat to Germany in their opening group match of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Olowookere also insists poor officiating in Germany’s second goal cost the team eventually.

Speaking after the match, the Coach explained that, “They’re Young girls, and they’ll grow into the competition.

“Loss of concentration from the defenders cost us. The Second goal was controversial in my opinion and the match official shouldn’t have allowed the goal.

“But we could have done better. We’ll work on those shortcomings from the game.”

On what to expect as response from the team Olowookere said, the team will learn from their failures.

“I’m still confident, even today’s game we gave our all and expected more. We’ll learn from our mistakes and try to turn things around with the two games we’ve got left to play.”

The Flamingos next play New Zealand, who also lost their opening game.
