Nigeria’s U17 Ladies have finally broken their World cup jinx by qualifying for the semi finals for the first time in the nation’s history.
It was a nervy finish to the game as the Flamingos limited the high flying USWNT, who scored 13 goals in their group stages alone, to just one shot at goal the entire game.
The match was wrapped up with a well taken penalty from Edafe, after Riley Jackson had missed, to secure the Flamingos’ passage into the final four.
Nigeria strolled to a comfortable 6-0 victory against Sao Tome and Principe in the final game of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and secured the top spot in group A.
