Nigerian U17 Women’s player , Dah Zossu says victory over the USA has given the team extra motivation and a huge boost for the rest of the FIFA World Cup tournament.

Zossu was an unused substitute when Nigeria battled USA for a ticket to the last four.

The team captain had picked a knock against Canada, in the group stages, but her influence in the locker room as it had been on the pitch was valuable.

“We feel so excited, because this is the first time the under 17 team has ever made it to the semi finals, so, we feel very very happy and we are excited about it,” Zossu remarked after the win.

She also talked up the team’s believe of going all the way to reach the final.

“Yes 100 percent sure, we have what it takes to push further to the finals.

“I have missed two matches because of my hamstring, but getting back on the pitch, I will feel excited. In all, I am so excited and thankful to my teammates, because even when I was not on the pitch they really gave in their all and they made me proud and made Nigerians proud.”

Meanwhile teammate, Miracle Usani had an interesting game in the encounter against USA.

After helping her side hold firm against the Americans in regulation time, the Midfielder missed her first spot kick, but was fortunate as the referee ordered a retake after Valentina Amaral was off her line.

She initially burst into tears, flooding with emotions but coolly stepped up to dispatch on her second attempt.

When asked how she felt after her initial miss she revealed that she was unhappy with her self but felt redeemed and happy when the referee asked her to retake the spot kick.

The Flamingos will face horns with Colombia in the semifinals after the South Americans saw off Tanzania.
