The Nigeria U17 Women NT, the Flamingos, eased past Chile 2-1 in Bhubaneswar to set up a meeting against the winners of group A; the USA.

A Fourth minute goal from Blessing Emmanuel off an assist from second time man of the match, Opeyemi Ajakaye, made sure the Nigerian girls go into the break with a lead,.

They could have scored more as the team created more than a dozen goalscoring chances, but they were wasteful.

Nigeria also had a penalty appeal waved off, after Opeyemi Ajakaye’s shot ricocheted off the body of a Chilean defender and on to her arm.

The referee briefly listened for instructions from VAR room, but waved play on.

The Flamingos continued to pepper the Chilean defence with many more chances, which included Ajakaiye hitting the crossbar from 20-yards out.

Finally, the second goal arrived after Etim headed a corner on to the path of Bisola Mosaku who pounced on the ball and hammered home from close range in the 82nd minute.

The Chileans however pulled one goal back from the penalty box after a lengthy VAR check from the referee.

A shot ricocheted off the knee of Etim, on to her hand, a similar situation to what the referee waved away against the Chileans in the first half.

The resultant penalty was slotted home by Tali in the 90th minute.

The Flamingos will play USA, who won their final group game against Morocco 4-0.
