Nigeria will take on Burkina Faso in a quarter final match of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, this Thursday, in what will be a repeat of the 2022 WAFU B Championship finals, which saw Golden the Eaglets win 2-1.

Although regarded as favorite for the encounter, this game will present a different challenge for Nigeria with a spot at the FIFA U17 World Cup up for grabs.

Golden Eaglets head Coach Nduka Ugbade understands the significance of the game and during his press conference he made spoke on his expectations.

Ugbade recalled how intense the most recent meeting the sides was and predicted Today’s game will equally be interesting – particularly with more at stake.

“It’s going to be very interesting, because in the WAFU B we were in group B and we had Togo, Niger, Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Burkina Faso,” Ugbade recounted.

“We did very well and at the end of the competition, we met Burkina Faso in the finals. It was a very tough and beautiful match for 90 minutes. I think this time around it’s more of the same the only difference is it’s in the AFCON, so it’s surely going to be a very interesting match.”
