Nigeria will kick off its CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations campaign today when the Golden Eaglets go up against Zambia.

Speaking ahead of his team’s opening game, Nigeria U17 MNT head Coach, Nduka Ugbade has suggested the team isn’t going to get carried away by the “favorite” tag.

Ugbade, without trying to sound modest, insists every opponent must be considered good enough to do well in the competition.

“Nigeria is a very strong team like I told you, I’ve been too careful because we have built a lot of capacity to meet up demand that is placed upon us when we go for these competitions.

“The issue here is that Zambia is as well a very wonderful nation, Morocco, Cameroon, Algeria too. All these countries in the competition are very very good. Even the one that we didn’t think will qualify, Somalia, they’ve done so well.”

Coach Nduka Ugbade was also coy on his team’s chances winning the competition.

“I’m not going to tell you that we’ll go all the way because it’s difficult to say this; anything can happen and before you know it end comes for Nigeria. But, I’m going to tell you this, we’re going to stand our feet and do the best we can and see how we are able to go and how far we can.”
