Nigeria is set to lock horns with Morocco, South Africa and Zambia in the Africa U17 Cup of Nations in Algeria for a place at the 2023 U17 World Cup.

In the tournament’s history, Nigeria has won the most World Cup titles and the team will fly off to Algeria with the sole mission of at least securing one of four world cup tickets available.

Despite being placed in a difficult group, former Nigeria international Duke Udi is very confident that the Golden Eaglets will prove their mettle.

“When it comes to the U17 and U 20 we are very strong in Africa, we are a force to reckon with so they don’t play with us, no country jokes with our junior national team because they know what we stand for and they know we are giants in Africa when it comes to youth competition,” Udi told FL.

“Even with Morocco, South Africa and the Zambian team, we should just put our house together, when we prepare very well we will win it.

Duke Udi also threw his weight behind Nduka Ugbade, “I so much have confident in the national U17 coach, he has won it as a player, he has won it as an assistant coach and he wants to win it as the head coach.

“For me he has done an incredible job and we just need to support him. I have absolute confidence in Nduka Ugbade that he will do a great job with the lads.”
