David Akintola and Henry Onyekuru put in minutes, but watched Adana Demirspor suffer a late capitulation against Super Lig leaders, Galatasaray on Saturday.

Akintola and Onyekuru both started the league game for fourth placed Adana, who were hoping to close the gap on Besiktas in third place, the last automatic spot for a European ticket next season.

Adana manager, Vicenzo Montella had his work cut out, but the team started out brightly and held on until the 86th minute.

Montella replaced the Nigerian duo, Akintola in the 65th minute and Onyekuru on minute Eighty-five.

A minute later, the hosts broke the deadlock, Fredrik Midtsjo got the opener (86′).

In the eight-minute of stoppage time, Nicolo Zaniolo scored from the spot to seal maximum points for Gala and stretch their lead to nine points, albeit they’ve played two more games than Fenerbahce in second.
