The King Goes Home! Pele Dies At 82


Football icon, Edson Arantes do Nascimento ‘Pele’, has died after losing a long battle against colon cancer.

Pele, 82, was hospitalized earlier this month, after recieving chemotherapy for the removal of a colon tumor back in september last year, 2021, in Sao Paulo.

Pele won three World Cup titles with Brazil in 1958 after making his debut at the tender age of 16. He also won the 1962 and 1970 editions of the trophy.

He retired from “The Beautiful Game” – a phrase he invented in the description of football, scoring a total of 77 goals for the national team, a record currently tied by Neymar.

He was also named the greatest football player ever by FIFA in 2012.
