FC Lorient fought a gallant battle at home in the Ligue 1 clash against AS Monaco, and their Nigerian Striker Terem Moffi found his mojo again in front of goal.

Moffi’s precision had been a blunt edge in the last two league games, where despite playing maximum minutes he fired blanks.

But, on Wednesday, the 23 year-old showed not just intelligence in timing his run, but also a poacher’s instinct to pick his space and executing with a delightful finish.

His goal in the 77th minute put Lorient ahead, having fought from a goal down at the Stade du Moustoir.

Lorient had lost three consecutive league games at home and were winless in four. That record looked like it would be extended when Breel Embolo scored just after the hour mark to put Monaco ahead.

However Dango Quattara responded for the hosts and in the 75th minute he got the equalizer.

The Burkina Faso forward then turned provider for Moffi with an incision pass which sent the Nigerian through on goal for his 11th goal in 17 appearances.

Despite their best efforts, Monaco would leave the Stade du Moustoir with at least a point for a sixth time in their last seven trips to the Western region of France.

Frenchman, Wissam Ben Yedder netted in the second minute of stoppage time to earn his side a point.

On the Ligue 1 standings, Lyon maintain the two points gap and one spot over Lorient who are Sixth and outside an automatic European spot.

Coming up next for them is another tricky fixture, when they travel to the Stade Velodrome to face third placed Marseille on Saturday 14.
