Tammy Abraham, Blessing Eleke, Onisiwo Rain Goals

Three attackers of Nigerian descent were on target for their respective clubs on Saturday, as Tammy Abraham scored for Aston Villa in England and Blessing Eleke struck for FC Luzern of Switzerland, while Karim Onisiwo got one for SV Mainz of Germany.

 

 

In England, Abraham took the fortunes of his Championship side a little higher, as his goal played a role in taking Aston Villa three points outside the playoff spots, with a 3-0 thrashing of Derby County, footballlive.ng reports.

Abraham, who is on loan from Chelsea, netted his fifth goal for Villa, with 12 minutes left to play in the match against Fikayo Tomori’s team.

In Switzerland, Blessing Chubuike Eleke hit his ninth goal for FC Luzern in a 4-1 win over Lugano in the Swiss Super League, after getting off the bench in the 54th minute.

He first got an assist for his team’s third goal seven minutes after getting off the bench, before netting his own in the 75th minute.

Eleke came off the bench to score and assist another when his side made light work of FC Lugano, defeating them 4-1 in away in the Swiss League.

Goals from Ruben Varges in the 37th minute and Christian Schneuwly three minutes after the interval put Luzern two goals up before Eleke was introduced after 54 minutes for Tomi Juric.

The 22-year-old instantly made his impact by providing an assist for Ruben Varges to get his brace just after the hour mark, before the hosts pulled one back via the boot of Carlinhos Junior on the 72nd minute.

Eleke did, however, restore his side’s three- goal lead three minutes later, netting his fifth goal of the season after finishing of a pass from Stefan Knezevic.

The win now lifts FC Luzern to 6th on the table with 18 points from 14 games.

In the German Bundesliga, Onisiwo on the score-sheet for Mainz in their 3-1 win over SC Freiburg at Schwarzwald-Stadion.

Onisiwo rode his luck with a mazy dribble to slot home his first goal of the season in the 75th minute, ten minutes after coming off the bench.

Connah’s Quay and Barry Town United shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Deeside College Stadium, as Michael Bakare hit the ball low from 22 yards to open the scoring for the league leaders, Connah’s Quay after 18 minutes to take his tally to 6 goals from 12 matches.

Samuel Nnamani bagged two goals for AFC Eskilstuna in a 2-2 draw with Gefle on the final day of the season in the Swedish Superettan, as the 23-year-old attacker opened and closed in the 18th and 89th minutes.

Aiyegun Tosin helped Ventspils beat Metta / LU on game week 28 in the Latvian Virsliga, scoring in the 89th minute in their 4-1 win.
