Taiwo Awoniyi turned down Wolfsburg before AFCON campaign


German news outlet, Kicker has revealed that Union Berlin’s forward, Taiwo Awoniyi was a subject of two bids from Bundesliga side, VFL Wolfsburg in the January transfer window.

Wolfsburg would end up signing his Union Berlin teammate Max Kruse instead.
According to reports Awoniyi turned down the move because he was content with finally having a permanent club after many years out on loan.
The Forward has surely found consistency this season, bagging ten Bundesliga goals in 21 appearances, double the amount he tallied last season.
He was a member of Nigeria’s squad to the Africa Cup of Nations, his first major competition with the senior team after his debut in a World Cup qualifier.
