Baciro Cande’s dig at the Nigerian players after Guinea-Bissau stunned the three-time African champions in the first-leg Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match didn’t go unnoticed.

In his post-match, Cande rubbed it in when he told a room filled with Nigerian reporters that his team had pulled off a massive win against a respected football nation, but added that “big names don’t play football”.

The team’s clash again in the return-leg, later today, at the Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau and in the pre-match presser, Kenneth Omeruo reacted to the Guinea-Bissau coach’s remarks.

“In our meeting we addressed the issue, because obviously the team was lucky to come out with the win against us,” the 29 year-old CB started.

“We dominated the game and we missed a lot of chances, the boys know what the mission is now. We’re not coming here to play for a draw; we are coming all out to get goals.

“We were unlucky in the first game because we missed a lot of chances, so we are coming to fight for everything now. We are not coming to joke,” he said.
