Gianpaolo Tartaro, the surgeon who helped fix Victor Osimhen’s mask has remarked that he is surprised as to why the Forward continues to play with it.

Osimhen, 24, went under the knife after he sustained a fracture to his cheekbone and eye socket back in 2021 in a nasty head collision with Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar.

In an interview with Il Mattino, Tartaro said that although the screw and plates on his face may cause discomfort, they would ultimately be taken off.

When quizzed about why the Nigerian still wears a mask, the surgeon said, “Superstition? I don’t know.

” It was modelled and remodelled with the assistance of the player so that it doesn’t create any discomfort.”

“Sooner or later you will have to think about removing the plates and screws that were applied after the serious accident,” he said.
