Austin Amutu scored the winner coming off the bench for El Ittihad in the Egypt PL match against Bank El Ahly on Thursday.

Amutu was a 80th minute substitute in his 12th league appearance for El Ittihad, but the 29 year-old forward didn’t take long before he made his impact.

He came on in a tactical substitution for the visitors, replacing Angolan Mabululu in a like for like substitution, and with the scoreline set a 2-2.

The hosts had taken the lead late in the first half through Nasser Mansi (40′) and doubled it just before the interval when Ghanaian Salifu Moro turned the ball into his own net.

In the second half, Zoran Manojlovic’s side responded in the perfect way, first halving the deficit.

Malulu pulling one back for the visitors in the 52nd minute and in the 66th minute, Mahmoud Alaa scored his first of the season to level the score.

Nine minutes after his introduction, Amutu settled the contest with an 89th minute goal to snatch all three points to move his side to 6th in the standings.

The goal was his third of the league campaign and it earned El Ittihad their first win in the last five league games (1D, 3L).

Next up for El Ittihad is a home game in the PL against relegation battling Haras El Hodood.
