Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, has expressed admiration and pride in his team’s performance despite their elimination from the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons fought valiantly, but were unfortunate to bow out of the competition in the Round of 16 after a 4-2 penalty shootout defeat against England.

The former African champions came agonizingly close to finding the net in the first half, and created several chances as the game wore on.

However, the teams couldn’t break the deadlock after 120 minutes and the game proceeded to penalties.

Speaking in his post-match presser, Waldrum expressed pride in his players’ performance against the Three Lionesses.

“I’m so proud of them, to come in and play like we did tonight. We had every opportunity to get it done. Unfortunately, we couldn’t quite get it done,” the American was quoted by FIFA.com.

“We had the best chances, we hit the crossbar twice. When it comes to penalties, it’s anyone’s game.”
