Super Eagles to help Cristiano Ronaldo and Co prepare for Ghana

The Super Eagles will lock horns with the Portugal NT in an international friendly next month, September.

General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Muhammad Sanusi confirmed the friendly in an interview with FL.
The clash is part of the teams’ respective preparations for the international tournaments they’ll feature in, in the coming months.
For Nigeria, the game will fill the void of the postponed Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, while Portugal will use the Super Eagles test prepare for the World Cup – they play Ghana in Qatar.
“We are all aware that the qualifiers was fixed for September but because of the change of date of the AFCON qualifiers which has been moved to next year March.
“Therefore the NFF has made it a duty to always use the FIFA window to play quality friendly matches with the aim of keeping the team in good shape.”
Sanusi added that Super Eagles head Coach Jose Peseiro was involved in the arrangement of the game.
“That’s why we use the contact and connection of our coach (Jose) Peseiro, who is a Portuguese to arrange a quality friendly match with the Portuguese national team.”
Portugal will also use the game to asses their squad for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Selecao were pitched against the Black Stars of Ghana in the group stage at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
