Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has revealed that the striker’s position in the National team is a tough one to claim despite finishing the Premier League campaign with Nottingham Forest as one of the hottest strikers in Europe.

Awoniyi scored in the last four games of the Campaign to help Nottingham Forest secure their stay in the league, amassing 10 goals in 27 appearances.

He will definitely be a good option to start for Nigeria in this weekend’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone, but in a chat with FL, the striker remained modest about his chance of leading the attack line, with a long list of players in the perking order.

“For me, there are a lot of hot strikers in the National team; Victor Osimhen looking at what he did in Napoli, Kelechi Iheanacho.

“Moffi (Terem), Boniface (Victor), every Nigerian striker is hot, so for me, I don’t like to talk about the future I will rather wait and see what happens in the future,” Awoniyi said.
