Qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup should be the priority of the Super Eagles, according to former Midfielder Christian Obodo.
Obodo insists Nigeria cannot afford to miss out on a place at the next edition of the tournament following the disappoint of missing out on the spectacle in Qatar.
Speaking with FL, the former Midfielder who earned 21 caps for Nigeria, says the players only need to raise their level.
“Nigeria must qualify for the next World Cup given the amount of slots we have,” Obodo iterated.
“The players do not have any excuse, if they give in their maximum, we will qualify for the next World Cup.”
The 34th edition of the FIFA World Cup will hold in 2026 and it will be hosted across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Nigeria's group D opponent at the ongoing FIFA Under-23 World Cup, Brazil, have received a boost following the return of Kaua Santos for Saturday's game.
