Super Eagles Mafia forced my International retirement – Oparaku

Former Super Eagles player Mobi Oparaku has revealed he was forced to retire from International football by unfavorable situation in the national team.

Oparaku earned 8 caps playing for Nigeria between 1996 and 2003, but the former defender insists his career was caught short over the power tussle in the team.

The 1996 Olympic Games gold medal winner alleged there were cliques in the Super Eagle, that had influence with player selection.

Speaking with FL, Oparaku said that, there was a form of fraternity being conjured up at the time.’

‘I would not be part of anything they did outside of football and that was a big reason why I was dropped and never invited again.’
